Hey Maik, That'd be quite awesome! Perhaps you should also mention the level the character had while doing the ladder run. I think a level 20 character can outrun a level 12 for instance. A different, but much more complicated, way of checking the time would be to create a video of the run. This would require people to use programs to record the game. I like the idea of an online stopwatch but you can kinda meddle with it to get the fastest run (starting it later than when you enter the zone or whatever).. The video will show you exactly how much time has passed and also if cupcakes or imps have been used.. A different option, but a bit more extensive, is for a "ladder guardian" to run along with you to keep track of time and items used. People can sign up to do a speedrun, then show it to the guardian.. Just my two cents

Already thought about using something like a "referee" (ladder guardian as u mentioned, gonna be abit hard for tag team runs, but I believe a few people can stream it or make a video, for example with twitch this is easy af) aswell. Thanks for mentioning your thoughts about this already! Furthermore good point with the level, we can distinguish and discuss different aspects later I think :-)

The only problem I see at this currently is that you only get the minutes you are on a map when you type in /age. Toolbox adds a stopwatch every time you enter an area.

Everything you guys are mentioning can be accomplished with a single screenshot after applying /age. Minutes in the map will be displayed, as well as any cons used showing in the (usually) upper left corner. (Unless you rearranged your view) A full screenshot with party window open will show your level + any animal companion and/or imp. The simpler you keep it the more folks may want to try it. Remember, Alot of interest gets lost when ideas get complicated. You may get some interested parties, folks with competitive natures. Just remember that this game is global so hours will vary incredibly. You'd definitely need to have a team of at least 2 or 3 of people to monitor the postings. Would I do such a challenge? Probably not. Not because it doesn't sound like fun, but because I'm not that competitive anymore. Besides, finding time is becoming more and more of an issue for me lately. But you may get many other interested parties, so who's to say? There are challenges in many areas of GW in post. I myself spent untold hours farming hero armor by Glinting in EotN, and doing the Shadow Nexus in NF. It would have been nice if the creators had made a challenge for presearing, but it was the very first campaign, so they learned through trial and error. Also, levels shouldn't be considered much of issue. If a player chooses to enter a competition, they should realize what they are up against. Would a lightweight choose to fight a heavyweight champ? They might, and they might even win, as long as they know what they are facing. Also A Level 20 will probably do better than a 12, but bear in mind that L20 can no longer utilize an imp, whereas L0-L19 can. Just some food for thought there. Good Luck with this idea. It will be interesting to see if it pans out!

The problem with /age is that it only shows you the minute, and with these kind of speedruns it is a matter of seconds :/
Thanks for replying tho, appreciate it ! :-)

I do not know what toolbox exactly is to be honest. Like where can you get it from, is it safe for your account(s) and is it forbidden or not? (Guess even if it is prohibited anet does not care though)
Anyone got experience with this program? :-)
If it is secure then this will be the easiest way I believe!

I'll let Ethos answer that, since his post was on the board by the time I finished typing my first reply. It obviously shows up on the screen, since the screen is full view, and would complete the screenshot nicely. As for it's workings or where-to gets, I know not. Which, of course, piques my interest immensly. I just love to learn new and useful things

We'd have to have rules on consumables, and imp use, as well as gear. But it'd be cool for sure.

I don't think there should be any rules tbh besides only you, and of course GW1 ToS and code of conduct. Gear/Consumables/Imp usage shouldn't be limited. I think it's based on strategy if you want to be level 19 w/ imp or level 20, or what consumables to use, gear, etc... As long as it isn't any banned gear either, ie Superior runes
