Would it be possible to add a setting to user's profiles for timezone?
Many have their 'location' pretty generic and if we could set a timezone you could add their current local time on profile pages without giving away too much info. It might help in figuring out a good time to trade with ppl being on opposite sides of the big ponds... or in a penal colony somewhere.

I was kinda hoping for you to be able to set it like under Settings > date and times then have it display the users actual local time somewhere on their profile page. I guess this works too, only with more math. Guess I'll need to hire one of those smart- asurans to convert timezones for me lol

Let me look into it, we may already have that on the calendar set up. You may be able to check another member's location already though. IDK if it's an admin only privilege but, I don't see why it would be. If you look at a member's profile, to the far right is the "profile options" button. Click on the down arrow, scroll down and hover over the IP. You should see "Geo Info". Click on that and you'll know exactly where someone is. From that I can tell that you are from N.H. USA You can guestimate time zones from that location. But again, I'll look into it for you and see what we have, and what is free ^^

There really isn't something available YET that gives you another member's time zone... However...I did find an Amicable Asuran!!! (Didn't know there was one did you? ) I'm going to see if there's a place that this can be set up where it's both out of the way until needed, yet also convenient! www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html?iso=20171219T180000&p1=912In the meantime you should copy and message it to yourself so that you have it on hand! holly holly

I'll guess it was a town starting with P in south west nh or a town just northwest of manchester starting with G. The funnier thing is those days they route my traffic differently and it shows up as a town in vermont, all of which are over an hours drive from here lol. I'd say my actual city but nobody knows where it is except a 'few' bikers that come here every year for an old event ;P

In any event, the link for Time Zone Calculator that I put up, will still convert the time quickly, even if it isn't 100% exact. It should still be close enough to arrange a suitable meet for trade. Hey, so far that's all there is...I will keep an eye out for something better, but at least you have something for now.

@lady Lyn Nope F isn't my town either, but depending on the F you might be within 30 miles. IP traces at least on my isp always tend to give the location of their data centers. F is a new one to me, though not surprising with the new owners making the isp better. It used to be Maine, NH, and VT all through 3 hubs lol.

That's the problem with trying to use IP addresses as a location device. From what I was reading on the support sit, while looking for a world clock widget, It's usually the server address closest to the client that shows up. So the geological info of the member you want to trade with would not always be correct. Then there is the problem with some IP's not registering a location at all. And then there's all the VPNs etc etc etc. I think the above link that I listed is as close to an amicable Asuran that you're going to get! I'll see if the rest of the team can help me find a home for it. It's an aid to the market, but also a service to the community...hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I could lose some serious sleep over this! NOT!!!

This single idea gave birth to a new board...Important Links. You will find your Time Zone Converter there! I have a fun idea I'm going to try, but I won't tell you because I don't want to disappoint if it doesn't work! You're such a "Good Egg"!!! You absolutely WILL KNOW if it does!
