ug but why?
In Presearing, the only two sources of Sephis Axe and Dead Bows are Hidden Stashes and the Skeletons. Hidden Stashes drop really low level loot. The other skeletons in Presearing are not much better at level 1, 2 and 3. However, there is a discreetly placed skeleton boss named Skullreaver who is level 5 and can drop both axes and bows.
Max known current numbers for Skullreaver drops,
Dead Bow: 9-12 (personal best is 8-12)
Sephis Axe: 5-11
Sword: 7-10 (standard skins)
Shield: 8ar (standard skins, no skeleton or skull shields idk why)
Hammer: 8-11 (I'm sure he drops better but they are so super rare and they are just standard skins anyhow)
Current goal is to get,
Dead Bow: 12 max damage with a +% damage mod and/or a 13 max damage with possibly an inherent mod
Sephis Axe: 11 max damage with inherent mod and/or a 12 max damage with possibly an inherent mod
The challenges,
* Skullreaver is a long walk and will diminishing returns fairly fast if you only rush and kill him repeatedly causing him to no drop.
* Skullreaver averages 2-3 drops per kill but he drops like 90% white items.
* Skullreaver drops A LOT of low stat gear.
* Skullreaver frequently drops swords and shields rather than strictly Dead Bows and Sephis Axe. It is possible for him to triple shield drop...
* Skullreaver blue rarity drops are often improved sale value/salvage.
* Skullreaver appears to drop gear of a maximum unidentified merchant value of 8g. Without seeing a 9g drop there isn't currently a hope that he can drop better base stats, sadface
I completed a set of 100 runs and used dye as a sort of gauge. I clear all skeletons and spiders on the center path to Skullreaver to help reduce Diminishing Returns and also add value to the run (dye & event drops). Seriously the run would suck bad without anything other than Skullreaver drops...
This is my dye finds in 100 Skullreaver runs,
Purple: 5
Blue: 9
Yellow: 11
Silver: 5
Red: 5
Green: 4
Orange: 6
Brown: 2
Black: 3
Pink: 5
White: 0
Total: 55
Current known max drops I found on the way were,
2 white 5-11 sephis axe
multiple blue and white 8ar shields
1 white 7-10 swords
Yep with an average of 2.5ish drops per kill, thats 250 pieces of Skullreaver loot and only 2 of those dropped as current max items (and white...) that are the target of this run.
