So a year, well it must be two years now, I took the Nightfall (Elona) Reverie quest. Forgot about it for a while. Eventually stumbled onto it in the quest dialog on that character, did it. Waited. Next August, got the thing you get when you turn it in (proof of winds? well I do break wind now and again).
Next August I took the other three quests to do: Tyria, Factions and EOTN. The EOTN one started all right, then it hit an impossibility. Started on the Factions one. Finished that after a while. Did some work on the Tyria one then realized, while looking at the mapped out routes on the wiki, that I would rather wash my car with a tooth brush than do anything more on that quest.
A question finally surfaced in my mind, the one that should surfaced around two years ago: what is the point of the reverie quests?
After some research, near as I can tell, I can take the four "proof of" things, and turn them in for a single thing. This last thing i can turn in for a choice of rewards. Near as I can tell, the only rewards of even remote interest to me are (1) a reusable summoning stone that summons a charr warrior or instead (2) a max-damage green weapon that is customized to my character. Oh.
That's it? Am I overlooking something?
p.s. I do realize it's a way to lead players who are not self-directed to explore areas that they may not on their own. My first few characters back in the day did a hell of a lot of exploring, back when nothing was as familiar as it is now. Been there done that, you know?

The summoning stone is quite powerful, as it deals aoe dmg as well as being able to heal itself. There are probably more powerful summoning stones than it (banished dream rider?), but the convenience of it being non-consumable combined with its damage output makes it my first choice for any encounter. If you're looking to do a whole bunch of missions/vanquishes/faction farms, you'll get a lot of use out of it.
