Hello! So I played pre searing maybe a year ago but had a daughter and needed to take a break. I didn't get a whole lot of GW experience but I'm back and have a question.
I'm interested in playing something not usual. There's enough rangers and eles and warriors. I'm curious if it's possible to recreate the "wammo" but I prefer the look of the monk. Like can I still go sword or axe? Build it exactly like a War/no (besides the warrior only skill obv..) .. And having less armor rating cause monk armor. But can I still get like, 14 points in axe and play the job like a wammo?
Just curious. If not I'll just go war primary but I really prefer the monk aesthetic. Thank you!

As a Monk, yes you can still use an axe or sword and their corresponding skills. But you can only get to max 12 attribute points into Axe/Sword Mastery as you can't equip warrior runes as a monk.

Oh, so all those runes are class specific. I figured only the job exclusive talents were off limits. Fast casting, divine prayers etc..
I'm not sure how important or game changing 12 pts is compared to 14. But I figure once you're closer to lv 20 it probably doesn't matter a whole lot.
Mo/W just sounds fun. I like doing unpopular builds and monks look better to me aesthetically.

You will deal 6.7% less damage with 12 Axe Mastery compared to rank 14. Additionally, your chance to land critical hits is lower.
More importantly, you will take roughly twice the amount of elemental damage and almost three times the amount of physical damage with Monk.

I play it like a pointblank Smiter with Hammer Bash. It's not the most effective way to play, but I think it looks cool and it's pretty fun, too!

I have a Mo/W and I love it! I definitely kept a lower axe mastery in favour of smiting and healing/prot I'll have a look at attribute spread tonight and share my build if you want. I admit I keep mine at level 19, and the Imp does a lot of the damage
But in terms of "strategy" I usually run towards the casters, and drop SoW, the warriors always ball up and then you can cyclone axe for all the AoE.
