Sorry to bump this thread again... I have done a fresh install of windows and i still have the problem. I have installed a couple of things from the microsoft website to update the dlls for directx9 but they haven't fixed the problem. I have tried a fair few other games and nothing has the same problems that guild wars have. I have no other ideas on how to fix it. My drivers are all up to date (windows does this for me?). Please help me
According to my son Windows 10 automatically updates, leaving you no ability to postpone it like it did on previous versions. It does this to him right in the middle of games sometimes. I can hear the constant stream of profanity issuing from his mouth behind a closed door every time it happens, lol.
As far as the glitch, if you've tried everything else, it may be 1 of 2 other things. Are you downloading GW from an original disc or from the site? If you're loading from a disc, look for scratches or smudges. Smudges, even fingerprints, can affect a disc. I clean mine with a soft cloth and rubbing alcohol. If it's scratched, some gaming stores have disc buffers which they charge a very small fee per disc to use. My area store is $5.00 for a single or 3 for $10. The price goes down the more you buff.
If it's from the site it may be glitched there, in which case I can only suggest you contact support and let them know of the problem. They may be able to fix it internally. You can always borrow or rent a clean disc from gaming stores as well, if you do not have the original.

90% of all problems under windows can be solved with a restart
Oh man i have problems too. I had Win7 on my Laptop and everything was fine. Now i built a new one with Win10 and while loading the map GW is going crazy the loading screen is buggi and there are white thin stripes on my screen.
But i heard from a lot of friends that Win10 is not as good for Games as Win7 atm.
