So, according to the weapons guide, the max health mod available on a shield while the player is stanced/enchanted is 43, and while hexed it's 58. The highest I've seen is 39 for stanced/enchanted, and I think 54 for hexed.
Can anyone confirm the supposed maximums, or at least remember having seen higher than 39 or 54? If you happen to have screenshots, I would appreciate it.

HP mods are super weird. technically, for a purple weapon, the inherent mod can range between the values that are in the third quarter of all the values a drop can have.
meaning a unconditional hp mod can range from 15-30, ench can range from 30-45 and hex from 45 to 60.
The purple areas should be therefor
-for unconditional in between 23 and 26 but i have shields that give +22 hp -for ench in between 38 and 41, but i have shields that give +30 hp(ench) -for hex in between 53 and 56, but i have shields that give +51(hex)
I suspect that, since all those shields are dual mods, the "purple status" might be coming from the other mod thats on it (always +8 or +9 armor or a -2(hex/stance)). Since all the other inherent mods are following the same pattern in pre as they do in post it makes sense to me, that a purple shields only has to have 1 mod, that would make it purple while the other is off, to make it actually purple.
So you could probably drop a +5 charr+56 hp(hex) or a +9 charr +15 hp shield.
It seems also very weird to me that when assigning max values to purple drops the devs were like: well, lets have values for hp in pre that should be gold drops for ench and hex shields but not for unconditional.

sorry, I didn´t look deeply into thesse ranges even though at some point I thought about logging all the ranges as well. Unconditional up to 28 and stance/ench up to 39 I can confirm - hexed I vaguely remember very high ones dropping, but not sure at all. The only thing I can say for sure: the ranges in pre and post for purples is absolutely identical (referring to the mods) - so ANY purple os shield with 58wH would close the case. Glad you are looking into this!

Glad you are looking into this! Are you sure the max for unconditional is +28? I've never heard of that; I've always known the max in Pre to be +26. If it is indeed +28, it must be insanely rare (as must be +27). Thank you for confirming the +39 stance/enchant max! That's what I suspected, and we've had it wrong in the guide all along (at +43).

I've only had 2-3 +26hp shields drop so far, so I find it hard to believe that +28 is the max unconditional... It could be insanely rare like the 16% HSR in staves though (but I should have seen a +27 at least)...

Sry my bad that was a typo - I meant to confirm the 26g you proposed. As on the stance ench versions - I haven't seen higher on purples

The +28 max for purples refers to higher level purples (q9+)

The +28 max for purples refers to higher level purples (q9+) No. The +28 refers to weapon upgrades for things like bows. The range of the mod does have nothing at all to do with req. Nothing. The hp shield mod behaves different than the bow grip one e.g. that's all. The staff head (I think it was that one) behaves the same as the shield thing. 26 is max on purple shields. Maybe (I didn't log drops too much there) the insc version shields, which have a handle, behave like the bow mod (meaning max on purples at 28) but I do not know about that.
