I can only think of one idea at the moment, though it may be dumb. A prize, first probably, will win a fully geared out pre character of their choice. Materials, runes, insignia's for armor. Decent(great?) weapons(including offhand if can use), full bags, and dyes of their choice for their armor.

I would second the suggestion of consumable points.
There are also Charr Kits or Unsalv (desirable) runes to consider
