When I came back more actively in Presearing 6 months ago I started to see people selling Unidentified Purple Gear and it struck me as a little dishonest. Its not to say that all people selling Unidentified Purple Gear are cheating you, its just a very real possibility.
For anyone who isn't aware, Unidentified Gear is created with its stats and they are effective without IDing them. So for example if you equip a sword that isn't IDed and your health increases then it has a fortitude mod on it and will never ID to have a charr slaying mod. Be mindful of what you are buying Unidentified. The more valuable the base Unidentified Purple the more likely it has been tested for favorable mods by the seller. In Post Searing you will see players selling/buying Gold Unidentified Gear indiscriminately because they are going for the Wisdom Title and don't care what the item ends up being.
A little vid showing me testing a Purple Staff for demonstration purposes. It is a necro staff and therefor will not roll elementalist HCT mods. However...it can roll HCT ALL Spells:
Just a little info I thought I would share to those who are not familiar with some of the more discreet mechanics in Guild Wars.
