Howdy! I have been wanting to ask this question for a while. I want to know how to increase the rate of purple drops from the 4 bosses specifically, and just an increase in general. I want to hear every crackpot theory out there. I am going to test any that I can. (If having Fluffy in your lap works for you, I can't test it)
The ones I have heard and tested so far.
1 time of day, this was hit and miss, inconsistent
2 bringing a lvl 7-12 toon with you, This works, and is also the reason I recently got a 12-16 brute sword.
3 waiting, I read about the anti-farm code, and I took it 1 step further. When you enter an area, you will notice the game mechanism starting. Charr groups start running, other creatures start moving. I tried waiting a few minutes before every charr group attack. This was also inconsistent, but more on the increased drops side.
4 imp, no imp, I have had my imp kill charr as I was dying, and got purples, so Myth busted I think
5 zoning in from an empty district, like international. Inconsistent
Please add to this, I am really bored and have lots of time to test each addition. LOL

the only things i know for (semi) sure is that Imps don't diminish drop rates, i believe that was tested in depth on the old forums. and The anti-farm code is for realsies, you can actually test this one yourself rather easily; By entering the Catacombs from the Green Hills County entrance, there's a good wack of Gargoyles pretty much at the entrance, if you were to kill them all you're going to see at least 5 skull drops, maybe a dye and some gold. use the same entrance to get back to Green Hills County and then the catacombs again, you'll notice similar drops, they won't be terrible. But on the third try, you'd be lucky to get even 1 skull from them, infact, they don't drop much of anything at this point.

On that skull run Lord, I just map back to Barradin Estate and sell in between. It takes just as much time to run back to the entrance. But on the third run I usually get between 11 and 17 skulls. Once I even got 19. That third run is awesome if you map back to the outpost in between. On that note, I've noticed that when farming any area, the first run is always weak when it comes to drops. The second is average and then the fun begins...for about 3-4 more runs. I usually switch to something else when the drops start diminishing and go back later or the next day if I want more.
One thing I have noticed in both pre and post, different drop rates seem to occur for different professions. I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but i'd love to hear if you have.

Oh Fuzzy, I almost forgot yours when I read Lords reply. On the #3 waiting, try 10 minutes when you first enter an explorable area. Have your lunch, get some coffee, do anything that takes about 10 minutes. Then farm the whole area with no more waits. This has worked for me a few times, but I don't have the patience to do it for every run when farming all day. But the crucial first "dead" run in any area, when drops su*k anyway, much improves.

ok, I just did a boss run, and I killed the 3 wandering front groups, and the single axe/blade. I then went afk, watched a few videos, completely forgot I had the game running. I started after a half hour or more, and Jaw AND Blaze dropped kits. I haven't been getting kits like I used to, so major improvement there. I am gonna try again.

Congratz on the 2 kits. Like I said, the random times I've done it, drops improved alot. I only farm on my mule for nick items, and that's once every 2 weeks just to stock up for the next 2. That requires no waits. I take Lady into the Northlands only when I need carvings, the mule is too low in level to handle charr. The first couple of runs I do the afk thing, but I don't really need kits bags or runes anymore so then I lose patience with it. That's also because there's nothing to keep me afk anymore either, lol. Another thing I found out is that when runs go dry, after farming alot, to log off completely. That includes the sign in screen. Just like when GW has a new build. It freshens the drop rate, like a new day . Happy Hunting Love!!
