So, even though I have about 4000 hours logged in GW I have never spent much time in Pre. I have always moved a character to Post as quickly as possible.
Now that I am back on GW I would really like to work on some Pre-exclusive characters that I will keep here permanently.
My question is what are some of the things that are common to do, over and over in Pre? Also, is there any quests that you DO NOT want to complete and claim the reward on?
I dont want to do complete something that is gonna take away from the overall daily life of a Pre-exclusive character.
Thanks!

From my experience, 16-17 is the biggest level grind thanks to the minimum amount of experience you can gain from Vanguard foes. Therefore, keep every quest you can to turn in when you hit 16. Some people say do it at 19 which makes sense too, but you get twice as much experience from foes at 19 than you do at 16 thanks to the level bump they get.
None of the quests really drive the story anywhere as far as I know, so I would basically just turn in quests that get you the skills you want, and if they give them to you at the beginning of the quest, even better!
Most common thing to do in Pre is farm the Northlands. If you haven't been there, there's several Charr patrols and an altar with 4 bosses to kill for rare loot. That's our main farm spot really.
There's also Nick farming, luckily he stays in the same spot every day and you just have to get the required bits and bobs...
Once you hit Level 10, you get daily quests with higher level foes that don't drop any loot but the quests are how you get experience to hit 20, since death leveling is incredibly tedious and time consuming.
What else?
HAVE FUN

If you're on an ele or monk, obtain but don't complete the quests "protection prayers" and "bandit raid" so that you can farm bandits outside of ashford abbey!

One quest to not complete for a while is "Across the Wall" from the guy outside the Northlands gate. If you keep it in your quest log you can just head to the quest marker for it, kill a few charr, and use Ben Wolfson for an extra hunting buddy. He has surprisingly high hp for his level and makes a good addition to your team, especially if you don't have the fire imp. He probably isn't very useful against vanguard quest foes but against normal charr he is good, and helpful when you are lowish levelled.

Other quick thing. To enter the Northlands you need someone to open a gate for you. I Pull Levers Well will become one of your best friends. Check out the Automated Gate Monkey thread for more info

Check out the Automated Gate Monkey thread for more info Thank you. I remember people years ago asking for a gate opener. Guess I will be one of those people now. I will check out the Automated Gate Monkey thread, thank you! Here's the short version... 1. Look on the right side of the door in ascalon for 'I Pull Levers Well' 2. Invite her to your party 3. She automatically accepts the invite, walks outside, heads for the lever, 4. Just click her and hit spacebar to follow her then branch off to the gate. 5. Hopefully you make it to the gate just as she is pulling the lever, she map out right after she pulls it. It's simple to use her, only possible problem is lagg and loading into the map slow. If you use her and like the idea go in the AGM thread and say something like "omfg kaos you are awesome, it used to be sooooo hard finding a monkey at 2am on a weekday when everyone is asleep. Now I can make charr-b-que anytime I want"

Hey ! Every important thing already say. Just to insist on some informations : 1) gate opener free ok looney make a perfect description of his use. Moreover u have a red flowers to take on the road o the gate. Sometime to far away but sometime u have time to take it. Head armor in eden wich could give +2 to an attributs cost 50 flowers. 2) about how to farm in the northland go to the guide section to begin you have some examples of what to do. Then just check some youtube video ( research : pre searing charrs )
So we talk about the northland and somebody alreay evocate nick items. They dont all have the same value basically more easy is the farm the less value it have. Spider legs and belt farm is muuch more efficient then a skelleton one or grawl necklace. A stack take about 2-8hours depending on the item and ofc your efficiency. Again for nick item farm locations anf examples youtube is your friends. Meir make a great money guides u must read it and he talk about nick farm( and so muuch more ).
And yeah farm the charrs boss allday long is our common activity.
About the leveling to 20 as its said below lvl 16-17 is longer to make then 19-20 because vanguard foes are lvl 11 when u are 16 and 15 when ur 19. So u have twice xp and the 19-20 level only exige like 30 or 40%more then 16-17.
Just complete the first quest at the exit of ascalon for get ur 2 starter spell. Then u can take all other spell of ur professions just by taking the quest no need to complete. I personnaly suggest to take a second profession you only "use/waste" 250xp but u will have an easier and way more fun leveling to 16. U make the 250 xp in 8 minutes at level 16 so well 8 minutes for more heal or burst i take it whitout an hesitation.
U could sometime do the bandit raid quest just to get the shield.
Take all blue item its often rare so its 50-70 gold.
I will try to edit this on real computer for more lisibility and add some link.
Dont hesitate to add me in friends for any kind of help questions: Neko Prime ( its 300$/hours by the way)
See ya on ascalon street

If you want to to the vanguard quests and farm charr it can be good to do the quest a day later to keep the rmor buff.
Example:
day 1 hamnet, day 2 blazefiend
keep hamnet and farm charr, then when the blazefiend q is there you do the hamnet q, take reward and take the blazefiend q, which u also keep until the next is up and so on

Although I pick footman tate over blazefiend because melee charr hurt my Necro a lot and my imp and minions are too stupid to bail me out half the time. The stalkers and firecallers keel over pretty easy.
