Hey all just thought it would be interesting to hear about why people play this game. Of course we all enjoy the game but wondering if there's anything specific and unique people can share . For me coming back a couple years ago this game was an escape from real life. A channel for desires in real life that could be achieved vicariously through a virtual character . That's why I made so many now deleted characters and that's why one was named Vaapad. In reference to how Mace Windu used that lightsaber form as a channel for the dark side. For those of you who've watched Star Wars. And Guild Wars has indeed been a way to channel my dark side . It's been a channel for the good too certain things in the game serve as symbols and reminders for me of good things in real life . For those of you who've read Harry Potter maybe it's become a Horcrux for my soul ... But yeah would love to hear from people! animated-smileys-hands-fingers-21

Interesting thread! The reason I started playing this game is because someone at the games store recommended it to me. I was originally looking for an online game where you could marry (Don't ask I was young) animated-smileys-embarrassed-56 Anyway they suggested this. Was a little disappointed you couldn't get married but I'm forever grateful for the recommendation! I keep finding myself coming back to this game purely for the nostalgia. And I really like open world games. I don't really play much other games; so it's a nice change to be able to interact with real people around the world.

I started playing GW because two friends of mine on my swim team played it. I joined the guild that they had started, and we gamed together sometimes. I think I certainly became much more obsessed with it than they were! They don't play anymore, but I used to compare our Halls of Monuments every now and then, back when they still did.
The guild that was created by them became quite inactive, and so I left it to join an active one. I named a character of mine with the name of the guild we were in as a tribute to it.

Remember the good old time. Back in 2004. I play on first week. I was doing muchly warcraft 3 Diablo 2 and counter strike. One of m'y friends was a WoW addict and i enjoy this type of game but m'y parents dont want To pay everymonth and they read somewhere WoW were dangereous LMAO. ( im 24 now so i was mmmmmmm lets use my mind : 2017-2004 = 13 years. 24-13 so yeah i were 11 years old ) I were already a big gamer reading magazines of vidéo games etc so i heard of Gw. I dont play so much years and i never become a XxxXxproplayersofthedeathsolounderworldberichXxXxxX but i have like 2 years of pleasure whit friends. I mean the storyline of this game and the mission were so much more better then classic quest dungeon of 2004's games. Was playing the wammo and some monk Back on the 55hp way remembering farming hydra and minautore héhé. Few fow never had the armor ofc ( as i said im not a XxxXx.....XxXXx)
To be honest at 11 13 years old you are too young and To naïve To seriously think on a game become a hard experimented gamers. U dont have the mind, the time, the balls ( Hey girls).
I play for few weeks some months ago and take back on end of september.
Basically i already talk about the story of gw but there is a lot of think mailing this game a pleasure. Beauty and art inspiration. Some places are just WONDERFULL and stunning. And the 8 skills choice. U dont have 80 skills like all other game i like it. And u dont have 2836383948life and make 263839 damage each it. No ils simple u can make maths on it.
See ya im done writing on my little Phone.. .

I remember never hearing about this game, I had tried WoW free a few times and kind of liked it but I wasn't willing to pay per month to play.
Then one time I was at a friends and we were going to do a Magic the Gathering draft, and he was playing Guild Wars out in the Northern Shiverpeaks and I really liked how it looked and the gameplay looked great so I asked for it for my birthday.
Got Prophecies, and always loved it the most, I love the visuals, I love the difficulty, but I always loved Pre the most because it was just nice and simple.
Fast forward years and years, my old account is gone forever and I have a sudden irresistible craving to return to my roots, and so I bought the game again. I also always loved the same thing that Neko mentioned, your health is not a billion and you don't do thousands of damage per second, it really is a well balanced game and it's just so great
